There is no doubt that Mr. Bal Thackarey was a one of its kind political leader in Maharashtra politics. He encouraged his followers to grow and prosper and attain positions which they would have never dreamt. While paying homages they have publicly accorded all credit for their growth to the Supremo. Now there is a wrangle about the place where his memorial should come up. All the SS politicians are giving bizarre suggestions probably to gain public support. I have a very simple suggestion.

All the Sena leaders who have hugely benifitted from being associated with the Sena in these years should donate just 5% of their present earnings to a Bal Thakrey Memorial Trust and a memorial to this great man should be built and maintained out of this fund on a piece of land purchased by the trust and certainly not gifted by the government. The list of these men who should donate funds starts from Prin. Manohar Joshi, Raj Thakrey, Naraayan Rane, Chagan Bhujbal, all the Nagarsevaks past and present, all the MLA & MLC's past & present and all Shakha pramukhs. Just imagine the amount of funds that can be collected if these people truly donate the correct amounts !!

The Sena Pramukh has always criticized the governments in the state, own or other parties. He had always believed creating assets for the society from within the society viz. the initial wave of Sena Ambulances. It will be a shame if the memorial of such an upright man is created from government doles.
